Imagine if one placed a bet on Fury before the first bell, even a small amount would have paid off nicely, he was a 9/2 underdog over here. I'm still bitterly disappointed with the Klitschko performance but his brother seemed to be more upset than his trainer at the post fight presser. Banks was smiling and saying Fury deserved to win, I think it's time he was fired or relegated and a new head trainer came in unless Klitschko decides enough is enough and calls time on his career.
FOTY, as you say lots to choose from but I think I'm going to go with Scotty Cardle vs Sean Dodd for the British lightweight title last month. That was a brilliant fight.
I hear Ward has signed to fight Kovalev next but don't think it's been confirmed but if it goes ahead that should be a good fight. Stevenson doesn't fancy it.
10 days from now I believe Anthony Joshua will win the fight, Whyte will have to knock him out and stay out of trouble as I expect the ref to stop Whyte on his feet when he shouldn't or the judges to rob him. Can't say I'm overly impressed with Whyte's conditioning at the moment, I know he's a big guy but I wonder how hard he's been pushing himself. This is the fight of his life but psychologically he definitely has the edge over Joshua. I saw a preview of "The Gloves are Off" yesterday, it's a three minute preview, Joshua got about 10 words in, the rest was all Whyte, questioning why he's number 2 with the WBC, asking who he's beat to warrant that etc etc, can't wait for the full programme to air but Joshua for me. This event is PPV over here, it's a disgrace, we just paid for the Klitschko fight and now we have to pay for this when there's no world titles at stake and 14 fight Joshua is the main event. The problem is it's harder to get hold of these fights than it is for world title fights and so whereas I personally didn't pay for Klitschko and instead watched it the next day after "acquiring" it, I'd probably have to pay for this event unless I can wait a week to see it for free on the regular channel which I can't!
One question I haven't seen on here is one on our Martin Murray's fourth attempt at a world title in Hannover last month. Lost a split decision to who I consider to be the best super-middleweight in the world now that Ward has gone up. I scored the same as I did Klitschko vs Fury, 114-113 to the champ and coincidently both challengers had a point deducted otherwise I would have scored two draws. Was a great effort from Murray though but I think we have to accept now that he's not quite world class. That's four failed attempts now.
Eubank Jr is out on Dec 12th too supporting the Joshua fight, that's going to be a great fight, Eubank Jr got the upper hand at the press conference but O'Sullivan is a monster puncher. But before that, we've got the little matter of the battle of New York. I'm a big fan of Quillin, I hope he can do it, I expect Jacobs to get the nod after 12 though as he's the true New Yorker and is a good champion not to mention his story. I'm sure that'll be in the back of the judges minds, I expect a 12 round war here.
A question for you now. Who do you think will win, Lee or Saunders, and how?
