I'm glad to see people speak the truth about Oscar. When this fight between Mayweather & Pacquio was talked about everyone called Mayweather a coward for fighting a smaller guy. Mayweather also got flack for making Hatton move from 140 to 147 & now Oscar is asking Manny to move from 134 to 147, that's outrageous. Oscar could fight Margaritto but he's taller & can hold more weight on his frame & with his impressive victory over Cotto Oscar doesn't want to take any chances. Oscar could fight Kelly Pavlik he's 6'2" bigger & has KO power & would KO Oscar so that's out. He could fight Miguel Cotto just lost but was extremely impressive & has KO power & Oscar wouldn't be able to walk through his punches so that's out. What about Paul Williams, he's 6'1" good boxer decent puncher & Oscar wouldn't be able to get on the inside & could get hit & KO'd or have to quit so that's out. What's that leave well 1st it was Ricky Hatton who said no & then it was Manny who is always up for a challenge & knows Oscar is over the hill & not that good anymore. Manny should use constant movement like Mayweather did & hit & hold. I hope Manny wins. Oscar is a coward!!!!

Its too bad, up until now he has gone after the fights real fans really wanted to see - sad that his "last" fight is going to be this one; a mismatch against a former FLYWEIGHT champion, playing off the fanatical fans Pac has and the ignorance of the general sports media about boxing.

He took on all the best, and did so in several weight classes - Mosley, Vargas, Trinidad, JCC, Hopkins, Quartey, Whitaker, etc. Win or lose, he made the fights happen.

I honestly think he let the media scare him out of a fight with Margarito, I would have given him a better chance against him than Cotto had - Oscar is a much more skilled boxer, with a big punch...I didn't think anyone could drop Mayorga with one shot until Oscar did it - that could have been another great fight.

I understand where your coming from because this is a fight that has nothing to do with what boxing fans wants its simply for money everyone complained about the Mayweather fight being about money and this is no different. I really thought that with Floyd he at least had an opponent that was suited for him as far as weight class etc.

I respect Oscar De La Hoya for what he's done for boxing and everything he has accomplished in the sport. However all Oscar does it take " Big Money" fights using is stature, nobody is going to to turn down a payday with him. I never knocked Floyd for fighting Oscar, WHO WOULDN'T. The question then becomes does he deserve to fight these guys Floyd Hopkins Pacquiao and the answer is no, if you look at what he did before fighting those guys he did nothing that would make him a realistic challenge. Getting a gift decision over Felix Strum shouldn't have put him in line for Hopkins over WInky Wright and Jermaine Taylor. Beating a washed up paper champion in Mayorga shouldn't have earned him a fight with Floyd Mayweather over Miguel Cotto and Antiono Margarito or even Ricky Hatton. Then Beating Steve Forbes shouldn't put you in line to fight Manny Pacquiao the P4P champ.

People talk about whats ruining boxing this is a prime example fights like this for Money. Its disrespectful to the sport and the Hardcore fans who like me who still owe DISH NETWORK 150 dollars from Cotto vs Margarito.

i freaking totally agree with you guys. As a Filipino by nature and at heart, we don't really wanna see this match happening. Oscar is such a shame in the sport. And to me, so as manny. he could have opted for a 3rd fight with marquez or vs nate campbell/juan diaz, but instead he chose an old 160 pound man who obviously will never get hurt by any of his punches. I'm not gonna be surprised if he get his name plasterred in newspapers and people will laugh at him in ridicule and disgrace when he comes home. For this 2 great stars, greed creeps up in their system faster than AIDS. and for mike tyson's sake, if DLH loses this one, gosh that buster douglas KO may not be enough to compete with that degree of upset. And please, even though i pray for it not to happen, when manny loses, he's never gonna get the respect he once had. After all, money motivated him all the way up, and that damn thing will also drag him slowly back to the slums.

This is so embarssing for us boxing fans, i love manny before but now, got an FU for you man!

popping out of the Olympics I enjoyed Oscar. i presumed he could be what the sport needed...however the develop killed him for me. i think of all of it started along with his "win" over Pernell Whitaker (a combat i presumed he lost like the Strum combat). i could've respected an extensive determination loss against the cunning veteran...yet to grant him the combat mentioned lots approximately how significant boxing felt it replaced into to maintain this youngster undefeated (according to possibility because of the fact the medal, his looks, and his sturdy guy articulate techniques). After that, i did not like him anymore. I watched him lose all his enormous fights. Trinidad confirmed he did not have the steel to combat for the full combat and diminished interior the tip. Shane Mosely confirmed the blueprint of the thank you to conquer him (two times). Hopkins replaced into too lots for him. And, Mayweather (the matador) made him appear like an aimless bull (on Cinco De Mayo no much less...unfavorable Mexico). Pacquaio merely confirmed his replaced into washed up. His final super wins have been against the punching bag named Ricardo Mayorga and little Steve Forbes (a Contender). I agree which includes your prognosis to the nth degree. He replaced into media made. i think of Floyd replaced into the distinction that Oscar have been given credit for being. He did each and everything Oscar did yet have been given the Gold and he beat Oscar (retiring undefeated). And btw, im mad he offered the ring, which ranks combatants, whilst being a promoter of combatants (are you able to declare conflict of interest). think of if Steinbrenner offered activities Illustrated?
