Without doubt the greatest boxer ever was Muhammad Ali. He was and probably still is, the most recognisable face on earth. He changed the course of boxing and all sports. He is the best athlete ever of any sport. How a fifteen/sixteen stone man can dance around a boxing ring for fifteen rounds against the best boxers in the world beggars belief. He was a truly scientific boxer. He was never malicious and always had a smile after he mouthed off for publicity. I challenge any one to watch Ali v Zora Foley and then tell me he was not the Greatest Boxer ever. Foley, at the time was the all time number one knock-out man. Ali demonstrated the greatest exhibition of boxing ever seen.

When he dies, every newspaper will use every page to celebrate his life. TV and radio will use every minute on him. Just as when John Lennon was shot. Every page of every paper was about him and the Beatles. Ali is on a level with the Beatles. Dont believe me read your history, the facts are there.

It's funny you say J.M. Marquez, cuz he's definitely right at the top for me too. That doesn't mean I think he's necessarily pound-for-pound the best (even though I think he edged out Pacquiao in their last fight), just that there's something about the way he fights that I love, win or lose, and that I will never miss the opportunity to watch him.

Bernard Hopkins is probably my other favourite, and has been for the past 10 years or so. His skills have definitely faded, and he's been in a string of very boring fights recently, but I love watching him come up with crafty (some might say dirty) ways to win against younger, more physically-gifted opponents.

Manny Pacquiao by far. No other boxer brings action every single time he fights like Pacquiao. He's like a mini Iron Mike Tyson in his prime. Juan Manuel Marquez is good- eventhough I still believe Barrera beat him and Pacquiao shouldve beaten him twice and got jiffed by a jusdge who admittedly scored their first fight incorrectly and it turned to a draw.

I like Pavlok too

To this day I enjoy answering this question...without a doubt my favorite boxer (please disregard his life outside the ring) was Tony "El Torito" Ayala...he would have absolutely destroyed Hearns, Leonard, Duran and Hagler in the same year in not the same night. I watched him as a young man and as a professional fighter....how I dreamed about him coming out of prison and winning the title and then having a remake of Raging Bull with the title being ...."Raging Bull II"....such a waste of talent and such a waste and devastation he left as a result of his life with other people...my compassion and hurt for the people he hurt is a tremendous guilt inside me when I spend time to brag about him like this....still with out a doubt the "greatest" of all time in the ring and with out a doubt among the "greatest thugs" outside the ring...Tony Ayala the "boxer" is still my favorite boxer!

Antonio Margarito

I have followed his career and he is a very hungry fighter that never gets stuffed. He is willing to fight the best and he is not scared to call anyone out, even throughtout the media as we all know pretty well.

Also... he is very kind with his fan base and gives alot of time to sign autographs and pictures. he has alot of respect ALOT for his fans and his opponents but when it comes down to fight night get ready because he will come for you until you wear out

Micky Ward. In his prime, he could not take enough punishment. Also, no matter whether he won or lost, the opponent took a beating. Zab Judah who dominated the scoring in his fight with Ward stated that nobody hits as hard as he does.
