He was the original "Golden Boy". He gave Ray Leonard a pretty tough tussle, (i know Ray was past his peak), flooring Leonard before being stopped himself. But i thought Lalonde was a somewhat decent fighter. What did you think of him?

I was at that fight. I was thinking that if Ray didn't take him out, I might just jump in there and duke it out with LaLonde ( we are about the same size).

Lalonde was a decent fighter with a wicked right and he beat some decent opponents like Eddie Davis and Leslie Stewart before SRL nearly decapitated him in the ninth. He had a good career considering he had reconstructive shoulder surgery while after an injury he sustained playing hockey. He wasnt great but he was fun to watch when he loaded up that right hand.

ask yourself really... how would donny lalonde who got knocked out by sugar ray leonard in 9 rounds have done against the likes of bob foster, john conteh, victor galindez, mike rossman, marvin johnson, matthew saad muhummad, eddie mustafa muhummad, michael spinks, dwight muhummad qawi, virgil hill, roy jones, and antonio tarver.

I gotta agree with Aceman. For a guy who essentially was a one armed fighter, he managed to win a share of a world title with guts, determination, and a booming right hand. He was fun to watch.
