Here we had a fight that should of happened at least 10 years ago, and didn't because of egos and business B.S. We all want to see Mayweather vs Pac but may not happen for the some of same reasons.Business and egos. Also who else is out there that the people want to see? Like it or not the dirty business of boxing has hurt it. It wont go away but now is an after thought in the sports world. Also like Mixed martial arts(UFC Mainly) or not they have the right way of marketing ,promoting, and growing a sport. I like both sports but if you ask me in a tough economy to spend money on a PPV . Its less and less likely to be boxing and more on mma.

You would have to pay me to watch mma.

Hopkins/Jones was a good fight. Two all time greats were fighting good and hard.

THE FIGHT OF THE YEAR on May 1 will indicate the state of boxing today. Two all time greats will be fighting great and hard.

That fight was a disgrace and it was all Hopkins fault. Roy is so far past his prime, looks so old and flat that even a Hopkins win would not mean anything. Did you notice the size of the ring? It was the smallest ring possible to give Hopkins ever advantage in this fight. So not only did he have the ring advantage going in, he had his glove choice and still he repeatedly hit Jones low, blantanly headbutted him and whacked him on the back of the head continually. When Jones retaliated with a tap on the back of the head Hopkins twice went into the worst antics ive seen, he went down off a low blow that was not a low blow and my question is why? Was he tired? was he having a hard time with a Robert Jones Jr? (It does not seem appropriate to call him Roy Jones Jr anymore)

What ever Hopkins was thinking is beyond me, but I can tell you this I lost all respect for Hopkins, I always considered Hopkins a throw back, and old school boxer and last night tarnished his career.

As for UFC and boxing, its much easier to sell PPV when you own all the known fighters in the sport, White can put any two fighters together at his choosing, he can stack a card and could easily stage a fight if he chose too. If Golden Boy Promotions owned every known fighter, had free tv to build them up and could make anybody fight anybody then wow it would be a hell of a show.

Even with Dana White having all the control and owning all the fighters he still puts on a **** show like the GSP event, what a pile of crap. I think I enjoyed the Hopkins bullshit more then GSP, at least we got some laughs out of the two geriatrics trying to be fighters.

The problem with boxing is not the fighters its the promoters and sanctioning bodies that ruin the greatest sport of all time.

No Im not. Im not even close to being interested about this fight happening, especially now that we all know how washed up Jones is. The whole Hopkins-Jones rivalry has been nothing but hype. Their first fight was hardly spectacular and no one even knew it ever happened till both fighters started reaching superstardom. Maybe 12 years ago it would have made sense, but now it just doesn’t anymore. If Jones wins, then he beat a much older and much slower Hopkins. If Hopkins wins, he beat a washed up and useless Jones. Believe me, the only excitement this fight is going to bring is all the trash talk and the potential press conference or weigh in brawls that one of them might instigate. Sure they hate each other, but hatred is not exactly an element that makes exciting bout. It did for Morales Vs Barrera, but it did not exactly work for Hopkins vs Wright. That fight was just all about trash talking and the weigh in brawl. The fight itself was just a snooze-o-rama. Quite frankly, I am sick of fighters who try to sell fights by talking endless sh!t of each other during the prefight press conferences, but neither of them hardly deliver real excitement during fight night. What these two should do is go on a good old fashioned street fight with 6 o clock daily news coverage.

I really don't know where to start the fight it self was a total disaster on every level. This fight should have never happened sorry Roy but you did this to your self I have lone been your biggest fan and I alone have said that I believe that you were the greatest fighter who has ever lived but even I must turn my back on you now . You made the biggest mistake a fighter could make and that is to take advantage of our support. I paid the 50 bucks sucker money Roy you knew and ever one else knew that you were finished as a fighter if I ever hear your name again it will be too soon. BHOP I have never liked his style as a fighter but I respected him as a fighter. I should have know en the fix was in when right after BHOP beat his last opponent they showed him a tape of Jones getting knocked out by Green while he was still standing in the ring and BHOP said that it looked to him that Roy was all right when they stopped it what BHOP saw was all of us suckers getting to keep our money in our pockets. The state of boxing is so off base that I don't think it will ever get close to where it was there are to many levels of wrong . The promoters wont work together to make a real fight and most of the fighters are not ready for prime time. GREAD IS WHAT IS KILLING BOXING AND THE TV PEOPLE ARE LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO GET THERE HANDS DIRTY BECAUSE BOXING IS A DIRTY DIRTY BUSINESS EGOS ARE RUNNING WILD IN BOXING YOU SEE FLOYD SR. ON TV WELL EVERONE ELSE IS JUST LIKE HIM BUT YOU DON'T GET THE CHANCE TO HEAR THEM BELIEVE ME I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM.

You have a point, ego tends to cloud judgment. Manny and Floyd passed up a fortune, at least 40 million dollars for the stupidest of reasons, and boxing itself paid the ultimate price, Odds are we will never see that fight, it will go down in history right along side Joe Frazier vs Kenny Norton and George Foreman vs Larry Holmes as one of the best fights that never happened.

The Jones/Hopkins fight was a pay day for two hall of famers before they retire, and meaningless in the over all scheme of things.; If anything will be remembered from the fight it's the fact that Roy manned up, took Hopkins's low blows, head butts and rabbit punches well, and Bernard cried. Yeah I know, but in the 5th round Bernard actually cried. Like Tom Hanks said in "A League of Their Own". "There's no crying in baseball", and there shouldn't be any crying in boxing either. So much for that Philly toughness and tradition, Bhop was humiliated in his victory and Roy shell of himself gained a measure of dignity. Neither fighter were what we remembered them as, and I hope they both enjoy their retirements. We will see them in Canasota after their 5 year waiting period is up.

No I disagree there are many exciting fights coming up in boxing 2 this summer that I am excited about right now Mayweather vs Mosely. And Miguel Cotto vs Yuri Foreman in yankee stadium. I love watching ufc the only problem is ufc is always a ppv for their big fights. HBO has many fights that are free and entertaining.

it's like the EAGLES coming to a 3rd world country for a concert when they should've come 20 years ago during the height of their popularity, but they cant being them so unaffordable, now they are old and cant play the same quality as before, only a fool would think the gig will be jam packed...

thus coming to do a concert to a 3rd world country they snobbed 20 years ago, old and washed up is nothin but a fultile attempt to earn a living...

SAME W/ THE FIGHT ON TOPIC!!!!

pac/may bout might not happen...

but who do you think will lose much?

pac had everything...he's made...

doesnt need the pay, doesnt need floyd cuz

floyd menacing pac's reputation aint big time

since it's all baseless....the fans can live w/ that...

while floyd failed to prove he is the best just as he

always claims to be...floyd will miss the $50M purse

he drools for the biggest purse in boxing history.

he needs it to bounce back, IRS just sucked him dry

he lost his chance to become one of the all time greats

proves his 41-0 rec doesnt proves anything

dat was the worse piece of crap i've ever seen in boxing they should give back all the viewers their money back the sham... and it's even sadder cause if Roy had even tried to do ANYTHING i think he would've won..
