Mayweather doesnt seem to want to wait for the winner of Pacquiao-Cotto just like he was not interested in Pacquiao when he won against Hatton according to an article at boxingscene. He also stated he is not interested in fighting Mosley. Who would he fight then? What do you think of Mayweather;s move? How does that shape his legach if he doesnt fight Cotto, Pacquiao, or Mosley?

hmmm

well he could be lying

or maybe fight the pavlik williams winner, most likely if its williams

hell probably try to get him down to 147

and mess with his body, like dropping someone from middleweight to welterweight in a short time, losing muscle or whatever in a short time

kinda like roy jones moves up to heavyweight then comes down to light heavyweight and is never the same

and if he fought williams (if he wins)he could brag about beating a guy bigger than him and a fighter who mosley ducked

i mean mosley kinda makes it hard for floyd to fight him, hes like that guy that wont get of his your and keeps disrespecting , so you dont want to give him the fight just as a way of punishment

interesting tho, wonder what will happen...

Its pathetic if you ask me. Those are the only 3 fighters that Floyd could cement his legacy with, besides a fight with Paul Williams, which I don't see happening any time soon. I don't know if its a ploy, like some Mayweather fans are suggesting, but trust me, this is big news that some people will find to be true.

I just don't know why Mayweather is consistantly trying to make his image look even worst. He should already know what people think of him, why not change those thoughts, and fight the best out there? I hope it is a ploy, since any other fighter he is fighting without the names: Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, or Paul Williams in their birth certificate, should not even be in the ring with him.

To be honest, if Floyd doesn't plan to fight atleast 1 of those 4 guys anytime soon, I really think he will fight Clottey or Berto (his fight with Mosley isn't signed yet). But atleast he won't get as much heat compared to fighting Jesus Soto Karass, or specifically Juan Diaz at Welterweight.

The guy has all the talent in the World, but doesn't seem to find any use for it, what a shame...

well, we don't really know what this really means. remember that roach also mentioned before that they would not wait for mayweather (this was due to mayweather's choice of marquez instead of pacquiao). but everyone knows that the most anticipated bout in boxing right now is the clash between floyd and manny. and at this time, i am not really in favor of mosley (since he is too old now). although, floyd has got to face one of these guys (pacquiao, cotto, mosley)- who else is there (williams, margarito??). it's too early to tell, we have to wait for the cotto-pacquiao bout to draw any conclusions. but if this is true then he should slowly slide down the p4p list or stage another retirement for another two years and wait until pacman is gone, mosley retires from old age, cotto goes out of prime, williams becomes unable to make weight vs floyd. and margarito? (well, we are not sure how good he is without plaster). maybe berto will rise to the occasion by then. floyd's style of fighting allows him to stay a long time in the sport; and i believe he can always stage a good come back, even close to his forties (that is, if it is really true that he is not interested in pacquiao, cotto, or mosley).

He must have a plan, from a fan's standpoint it would be disappointing if he didn't fight Manny, Cotto or Mosley. But we will see what he has up his sleeve. If Manny wins there will be so much money put in his face there is no way he could say no. Also that's an easy payday because he will do the same thing to Manny that he did to Marquez. Mosley is the most difficult of the three & Mosley might try to pull a Hatton & get under Mayweather's skin until he accepts to fight him.

I don't think it is true. There is really no other fighter that he can fight... that will help him prove that he is the best in the world... Floyd knows this.... Floyd knows that we know this.... Floyd knows that the entire boxing world knows this. There is already huge criticism of Floyd... to come out of retirement and avoid Pacquiao, Mosley, and Cotto would be like flushing his legacy down the toilet.... like committing suicide.

I think he will wait around for the winner of Pacquiao vs Cotto.

Mosley's a legitimate threat. Mayweather doesn't tend to want to take those on, not from a natural welterweight. The last in-his-prime welter that Mayweather fought was Zab Judah, who had just lost to feather-duster salesman Carlos Baldomir.

The other thing to consider is that Cotto-Mayweather is just nowhere as big a fight as Pacquiao-Mayweather, and Cotto is also a full-size welterweight who can make some angles and who beat Mosley. My guess, honestly, is that if Cotto beats Pac, Mayweather will come knocking on Mosley's door. Until then, poor Shane is the linear welterweight champion and will have to keep looking for a big-money dance partner.

Or maybe he'll fight Ivan Calderon, who can come up to welterweight from straw-weight. You know, whatever.

If he doesn't fight the best in his weight division, and beat the best in his weight division, then he can't be considered the best in his weight division, it's as simple as that.

Mayweather undoubtably a talented boxer, done really well to win titles from superfeather up. Beaten some good fighters at 147, but yet to fight anyone great at that weight. Excluding De La Hoya, who was well past his best, who fought a close fight with Mayweather.Although this was at 154.

Anyway, it is at welterweight whereby this man has made his name as being the best boxer in the world. He might go on to prove he is the best, as it stands he hasn't, not at welterweight anyhow. Yeah he started down at feather - years ago. He's naturally grown into the weight of welter. Beating up on fat little superfeatherweights as a welterweight doesn't mean a bloody thing to me. As far as his legacy goes, if he doesn't fight the best - Floyd Mayweather - often cited as being one of the best ever - never fought any of the best ever.

Yeah, yeah keep bumpin those gums. Regardless if he said it or not, at the end of the day, Floyd is about MONEY so he's gonna fight. Floyd NEVER calls anyone out and he NEVER gives any indication of who he's going to fight next....its all part of the game to get all everyone talking so by the time he gets ready to fight THEY BUY!!!!! He's made a living off of people's dislike for him. Mayweather is smarter than many people take him for which is why he will continue to thrive in the sport. Mark my words, if Pacquiao wins its gonna be Pac vs. Floyd in 2010!!!!

Mayweather is already showing everyone that he has no intentions in fighting the best. in his little dream world he is the best fighter and he does not think he has to beat those guys, he feels that he doesnt have to prove to the media and the fans that he is the best. Mayweather is a clown, he's a superb boxer but he lacks the heart of a real boxer. Almost every time a fight makes sense for him, he finds a way to avoid it. The best welterweights out ther are, cotto, pacquiao, collazo, cintron, clottey, mosley, berto, margarito, quintana, and paul williams (if he decides to come back down) has mayweather fought any of them? No! he fought, judah, baldomir, and marquez. And I'll tell you why, because he's half business man and half B!+ch. bi+ch/business man = no real fights. He should shut up and retire already. for good this time. He thinks he's good for boxing , but he's not. He is bad for boxing, period!

Even though Williams is fighting Pavlik, after he beats Kelly. I'd love to see him and Floyd go at it. I'm sure Williams would win, but Floyd is a great fighter and could pull out the win.

Lol Jon, its quite difficult to answer this question without me offending Mayweather fans. But I'll try my best, lets see.....

(After 30 minutes of thinking...)

Seriously I can't think of any reason! One thing is for sure, he is the f.a.g.g.o.t.est in the history of mankind if his next opponent is NOT within those three you've mentioned.

Should Mayweather lose against one of them, he will have my full respect for trying than not fighting anyone of them at all and claiming he is the best boxer that ever laced gloves.
