Question:
Could gloves play a pivotal part in a Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight?

Mayweather continuously declares, "I just want to be on an even playing field."

Yet, he is notoriously known for forcing harder punching fighters to where the softer padded "Everest" gloves.

Pacquiao likes his gloves. A lot. Cleto-Reyes. The one time he didn't win against Morales, he said part of it was because he didn't get to wear his gloves. The next Morales fight, he was able to where his gloves and knocked him out.

A big, BIG, advantage Pacquiao has if they were to fight is his power. But, if Mayweather makes Manny wear 16 oz, heavily padded gloves, Mayweather will have the advantage... which is ironic considering he wants to be on an "even" playing field. To me, it seems he just wants advantages.

IMO, Pacquiao should be allowed to wear HIS gloves and negotiate the ref. That's it. Regardless of what should happen, Pacquaio will probably agree to where the orthopedic gloves, which gives Mayweather an advantage. And in a 50/50 fight, any small advantage could change the outcome.

What do you think?

Mayweather/Pacquiao would normally wear 8 oz. for their weight division, but in negotiations Mayweather and Manny might agree on 10 oz. but Manny will want Reyes and Mayweather his usual Grant gloves with the ortho foam for his sensitive hands, but that's all. The rules (Marquis of Queensbury) stat new gloves in the best condition and both those brands pass.

Maidana after Floyd b*itch about his horseshoe gloves offered to wear cleto reyes gloves and he still said no. I expect Floyd to try and force Pac to wear his gloves too

gloves have often been a big deal in making fights, and getting the other guy to use your gloves rather than his gloves is often a sticking point.
