This would an easy one to pick, Ali was superior to Marciano in all aspects except power, marciano was not even a true heavyweight (he was a cruiserweight but this division did not exist back then) Marciano had to come back to win against an old ezzard Charles and an old joe walcott and this guys weren't as fast or as powerful as Ali. Both Marciano and Ali had tough chins and could endure punishment,Ali however had the size advantage, more speed, more skills, longer reach and better foot work than Rocky marciano moreover Marciano bled easily while Ali hardly ever got a scartch in his prime therefore this fight would really be a mismatch, marciano would put up a great fight but eventually the difference between the two would become obvious, Ali would have to endure some punishing blows and will probably move around the ring to avoid getting cornered he would counter marciano's hits with fast flurries and almost surely land more punches (the reach and the speed would be a deciding factor in this case) in the final rounds Ali would have the advantage as marciano would ake one last attempt to knock him out, he would be covered in blood and probably have a swollen eye (but being the warrior that he was he would keep on fighting), eventually the referee would be forced to stop the fight because marciano would be deemed to injured to continue Ali would run to Marciano's corner and hug him showing Marciano respect for hanging in there despite all the disadvantages that Marciano faced going into the fight and Marciano would do the same. This would have been a great fight to watch.

I gotta give this one to Ali, Rock would have chased Ali for 12 or 13 rounds eating jabs and taunts, and at the end of the day Ali would have taken the decision. Marciano's only hope would be a KO, and if Liston, Frazier and Forman couldn't KO Ali, odds are good neither could Rock.

Great match up between two all time greats, but Ali really was the greatest. Easy decision for Ali.

Now this is a great match this could be many endings to it if it was based in the era where marciano fought when there were barely any stoppages then marciano would take the cake with a late knockout ali would win on points as The Brockton Blockbuster was always out boxed but what he lacked in technical skill he had in willpower chin heart and sheer power in both hands plus his tactic to fight lower would throw ali even Muhammad Ali himself in an interview that even during that computer fight when rocky was passed his prime he wasn't throwing with full power and his arms were hurting by points Ali But Rocky will win by Knockout in the latter stages due to his amazing stamina chin heart and great power in both hands

Joe Frazier said that Marciano was a better fighter than he was and if he could beat Ali, there is no question that Marciano would have destroyed him. With all due respect to the good folks here who disagree, I will take the word of someone who fought and defeated Ali over yours.

You can tell that NONE of the above answers has any merit. Why?....because there was 2 different era's of Ali. The pre-68 and 70-77. No one mentions this so they are all FIRED. Pre 67 Ali has too many skills and outlasts Marciano for points win or possibly stoppage due to cuts. However 1971, its a tough fight, I give it to Ali by razor sharp decision...1973 and later, Marciano by dec or late round stoppage.

Took some time to really study Marciano. Rocky was way too slow to handle Ali. I'm beginning to think it would be a mismatch and a bloodbath TKO within 5 rounds.

Check Marciano's record and most of his victories were against names that even students of the game aren't familiar with, fighters like Joe Louis well past his prime and light-heavyweight Archie Moore. Muhammad Ali ruled the golden era of the sport in a field of heavyweights that would have dominated Marciano's time or today - Frazier, Foreman, Shavers, Lyle, Young, Liston, Norton...

Rocky refused to lose and had too much durability, determination and punching power for Muhammad and would win before the final bell on a TKO. Rocky was truly the greatest!. Ali was knocked down by Cooper, Banks, Frazier, Wepner. Marciano was knocked down by Walcott and Moore

rocky had faught fighters from a bear fisted time and had beaten joe lois who has a record of 66 wins and 3 losses joe lois was only 1 inch shorter the muhammid ali and had more fights and a better win-loss ratio then ali who lost to rocky by Knock out if you look at alot of the fighters that rocky faced youll see that at least 2 of them were better then ali stats and experiance wise also the fighters in the 50s were coming right off of a depression men there was some really tough men back then i think marcianna in his prime woudve won it woudve been a good fight but marcianna would end it before the 11 round

Rocky was shorter and lighter than Ali but he fought from a crouch, attacking the mid-section forcing the opponent to drop his hands and punch down with diminished power. Meanwhile, Rocky would take ten punches to give one and would keep boring in under the arms of the opponent. When he finally got his opening to the head, Rocky would punch up with his whole body, down to his planted leg and generating maximum power behind the punch. He was never defeated and Ali would have met his match because no one could dance away from Rocky for an entire match without losing their finesse - and maybe their consciousness.

at 38 years old, jersey joe walcott had marciano outboxed for 12 and a half rounds in their first bout, and light heavyweight greats archie moore and ezzard charles gave him trouble.

although marciano is in my top 5 all time heavyweights, ali is number 1, so i believe that ali would have outpointed the rock by a wide margin

No one ever beat Rocky. They were both excellent fighters but Ali has a worse record, Though he does have a significant size advantage, Ali would not have knocked Rocky out.

Uman d's answer is incorrect , the fight he is talking about was simulation, the tow fighters pretended to be in a fight and different outcomes were filmed the producers chose to pick marciano as the winner. Ali would beat marciano.

rocky marciano is better than ali because rocky fought ali and knoocked him out in the 5th round

Technically, Ali was a better fight, but when it came to brute strength and stamina Marciano had him beat. Marciano for the win.

If we staged the fight in Rocks era im taking Rock 9-10. The fight would not get stopped for cuts and I just dont believe anyone, all be it some great luck (hense 9-10), can dodge those blows for 15 rounds. In Alis era 6-4 Ali do to cut stoppage.

In my view, it could go similarly to Ali vs Foreman or it would stop because of heavy bleeding. It would be entertaining to see.

Ali easy.
