Devon, you are exactly right about two pure boxers with good boxing skills. Lopez probably had the most perfect style and technique in a boxing ring that I've ever seen. When you talk about a boxer being technically sound, he's the first person that comes to mind for me. Calderon is also a very clever fighter with fast hands and great footwork inside the ring. If he has a weakness, it's a lack of punching power so Lopez certainly has the advantage there. In a fast paced bout of greatly skilled boxers, I believe that Lopez would land the more telling and cleaner punches winning a close but unanimous decision.

Funny, I just brought up Calderon earlier this evening. Anyway, I would have to give this chessmatch to Ricardo Lopez. I can't even find a starting point on describing what kind of fighter Lopez was. I think Lopez would simply put together a strategy to defeat Calderon after twelve rounds.

I definitely wish I could see that matchup.

Thumbs up to Woody, I too have trouble describing how good Ricardo Lopez was. I saw several of Ricardo Lopez's fights and he was about as technically a sound boxer as has ever laced up the gloves at any weight. Words don't do the little man justice, he was truly a master of his craft.

Ricardo "Finito" Lopez would've just been too much for Calderon. Technically sound with power. Finito was simply awesome...
